The Awakening

It wasn’t until you had to leave
And I had to grieve
When I understood what life was
That happiness did not need a cause

It wasn’t until you closed your eyes
When I got the answer to all my why’s
That there is a purpose involved
The sole reason behind leaving some lives, uncalled

For there’s work to do, intense
When grief turns into a goal
Where there is no longer any pretense
Such is the awakened persons role
